SMART Cuts

A film is measured against the claim of being something new, regardless of genre, production quality, and budget. The decisive factor is the film's position vis-a-vis aesthetic innovation that will lead to a refreshingly new short film experience.

COMPETITION GUIDELINES

SMART CUTS is a 60-SECOND short film competition of .MOV: The Digital Film Festival. Admitted are 60-second digital films of all genres.

1. Smart Cuts is a 60-second short digital film competition of .MOV: The Digital Film Festival, organized by Filmless Films Inc. All entries must be strictly 60-seconds in length.
   
   
2. All film entries must be submitted in VCD, DVD or VHS format with accomplished entry form to Filmless Films not later than 15 November 2004.

3. Shortlisting of entries will start 22 November 2004. If the ownership of the work is transferred to a successor in title after the selection has been made, any such transfer will be subject to the mechanics of this competition, and shall not affect the rights of Filmless Films. Inc. and Smart Communications, Inc. over the said material/ work as stated in the competition guidelines.
   
   The jury will award the following prizes to the TOP 3 winners:
   FIRST PRIZE WINNER: P30,000
   SECOND PRIZE WINNER: P20,000
   THIRD PRIZE WINNER: P10,000
   
   
4. All Top 10 Finalists will be notified starting 26 November 2004 through telephone/ text/ email and registered mail. A print ad announcing the Top 10 entries will also come out in major newspapers and in Sunstar Cebu.
   
   
5. As part of the promotion, seven (7) days before the .MOV Digital Film Festival, the Top 10 entries will be shown before the start of each regular screening in all cinemas in SM Cebu.
   
   
6. The Awarding Ceremony for the Top 3 Smart Cuts winners will be held on Saturday, 4 December 2004, at 7pm in Cebu. (Venue is to be announced.
   
   
7. Top 10 Finalists will be included in .MOV Film Catalogue containing synopses and contact addresses for the contributions.
   
   
8. Smart Communications Inc. reserves the right to distribute and use, edit, enhance and advertise the film entries in any manner it deems tasteful and necessary in cross-media (Internet, MMS downloads, TV, radio, print and live events) endeavors to promote and market digital filmmaking in the Philippines and abroad.
   
   
9. Smart and Filmless Films Inc. employees, up to their second degree of consanguinity, are disqualified from joining the competition.
